THE PROGRAMME DETAILS

THE CEREMONY

Held in the beautiful home of Heidi and Quentin Durning. Heidi’s lovely dance performance space, Iwakura Kūkan, is absolutely perfect for our small wedding ceremony. Directions are provided below.

Please note that since the wedding ceremony takes place in a Japanese home, guests are requested to observe Japanese custom and remove their shoes before entering the residence. Also, some people may be asked to sit on the tatami mats or in floor chairs (with backs to them) so please dress accordingly. If anyone has issues with sitting on the floor please let us know ahead of time so we can make arrangements to have a number of "real" chairs in the room.

Directions to Iwakura Kūkan
(by taxi from the subway station/Takaragaike Prince Hotel)
From the Subway station, Kokusai Kaikan, go to the New Green Supermarket. Just before the New Green market, make a right and go straight. At the end of this street, make a left, then a quick right turn. Where the street splits in two, go left and follow the narrow street with the rice fields on the left side. Go straight until this street makes a right, and the Iwakura Kūkan is the first house on the right on the corner.

Welcome to our Wedding Web Site!

If you haven’t already figured out, Shu-Lin and Matt are getting married! How he managed to convince her to agree to it is a mystery. Maybe you’ll have to attend the wedding to find out the answer....

For those of you who are attending the wedding in Kyoto, we look forward to seeing you all and sharing our special day with you! All the information you need to survive our wedding and find your way around Kyoto is here.

For those of you who can't attend, we are of course saddened and disappointed you won't be there but we hope you can 'feel' like you are with us via our website.

Hanami (Cherry blossom viewing)

Date: Thursday, 6 April 2006
Time: Mid-afternoon (TBD)
Location: TBD

During the cherry blossom season, sitting under the blossoms is a wonderful Japanese tradition. It's also a great excuse for us to get together a few days before the wedding and relax with all the folks coming from out-of-town with a few drinks and light snacks. We are trying to find just the right place to go as Kyoto has many great locations so check back for an update before the wedding.

Note: If the weather should for any reason not cooperate with us, we will have the hanami on another day or have an indoor get-together planned.

By the way, Japan Meteorological Agency's annual prediction for cherry blossom season is finally out! First prediction for Kyoto is blossoms to open March 28 and best viewing to be between April 2 to 9. We look to be in luck for the wedding.
